“My solution was to include a behavioral element in order to refine the way we could understand individuals

The profile is based on four thinking attributes — analytical, structural, social and conceptual — and three behavioral attributes — expressiveness, flexibility and assertiveness — that can be separately identified and scientifically quantified.
Emergenetics began as a way to improve the tools currently on the market.
“In the ’80s, I was working with subjects using personality tests in a business environment, and I began to see a disconnect between people who could be socially and relationally aware but not necessarily outgoing. As ‘social’ thinkers, they were categorized as extroverts, when in reality big, loud social gatherings were the last thing these people enjoyed,” said Browning.
“My solution was to include a behavioral element in order to refine the way we could understand individuals — so we measured for expressiveness, assertiveness and flexibility.”
For six years after its creation, Emergenetics was the focal point for Browning’s corporate speaking career — but as her career spread, so did the profile’s reach.
The Emergenetics Profile isn’t just an organizational development tool designed for teams and companies, because at its core, Emergenetics is an insight tool. With WindRiver Strategies and Emergenetics, individuals have the power to look inward to find out who they truly are and how they prefer to work, learn, communicate and go about life.
