The only reason Sumatran coffee exist is that it brings value to the world. The genetics of the bean combined with its own personal life experiences are required for this coffee to be the best it can be. It would not exist unless someone appreciated its remarkable taste and contribution. And…millions of cups have been served delivering on its value and desirability. In fact, the only reason it does exist is because it inherently, innately has value and worth. Starbucks even says about it, “Coffee from Sumatra is the foundation of our most treasured blends, and something we’ve been honored to share with you for four decades.”
However, if it were not for my coffee cup Sumatran coffee would have no value to me at all. My coffee cup (paper or otherwise) exists for a reason and that is so I can drink my coffee without getting it all over me or getting burned. If said cup brought no value it would not be here. It played a needed and critical role in the process I engaged to determine if I would even ascribe value to Sumatran coffee in the first place. Before I ever knew it would bring enjoyment (value and worth) to my life I first held it in a cup. However, my paper coffee cup could not deliver its value unless there was a coffee collar to put around it. Why? Frequently, my coffee is so hot that just holding it in a paper cup results in my hand getting scorched. One of these items exists because it brings value to others…just like people.
